Sensuous Arabic dancing with its characteristic sparkling costumes,

deriving from the Middle East; specifically from Egypt during the early 18th century. If you are looking to enhance your charm and finesse, or to create flexibility of the body and a control of the torso, then this is the right dance for you.

Some of the basic techniques are the following:

- Percussive staccato movements of the hips or other parts of the body

- Creating a flexibility to the body and a control of the torso - and the use of shimmies and shivers with small and fast movements of the hips or the rib cage.

- Supplementary, travelling steps, turns, spins, the use of lyrical arms, dramatic gestures and the ability of controlling the hips for acceleration or slowing down gracefully, are being used by improved dancers.

Apart from this, many props can be used from percussive instruments, to wings, veils, scarfs, canes and fans.

Belly dancing is waiting for you to explore its spectrum!
